I ran into this issue myself, and when people said that setting the device into 11G mode worked, I didn't see a reason to not use that as a workaround while the root issue is found! (Since I do not have this issue with other ESP32/8266 devices in my home on the same router.)

It does take longer compared to connecting via 11N as it waits for that connection to fail first, but it seems reliable for my network!
