Is there an existing issue for this problem?

  • I have searched the existing issues

OrcaSlicer Version

2.3.2-beta 2

Operating System (OS)

Windows

OS Version

Windows 11

Additional system information

No response

Printer

X1C (X1plus Firmware)

How to reproduce

After updating to the latest OrcaSlicer beta, LAN connectivity stopped working entirely. On startup, OrcaSlicer prompts to install the network plugin, but the plugin fails to load with an error such as: could not locate version library 1.10.01.09.dll Even when the plugin appears to download, the printer never shows up and manual IP entry does not work. This is a regression from previous OrcaSlicer versions, which connected normally.

My printer is an X1C running firmware based on the pre‑“network security” updates (in this case via X1Plus, but this issue applies to any printer on older firmware). The new Orca network plugin seems to require the updated LAN protocol introduced in Bambu’s newer firmware, and no longer communicates with devices running the older protocol.

The X1Plus developer confirmed this cannot be fixed on the printer side, since the protocol change originated in Orca’s new network plugin. Older firmware (stock or modded) is now unable to connect.

Actual results

Network plugin fails to load or initialize, missing DLL errors appear, and the printer cannot be discovered or added manually.

Expected results

OrcaSlicer should maintain backward compatibility with printers running pre‑security‑update firmware, or provide a fallback/legacy LAN plugin so these devices can still connect.
