Is there an existing issue for this feature request?

  • I have searched the existing issues

It is no secret that excessive models fan speed reduces the sintering ability of the layers, reducing the strength of parts and increasing shrinkage and produce warping. However, bridges usually require more cooling. At the moment, we have the option to adjust the fan speed of the model only for all internal and all external bridges.

For example, we have a part with a small slope angle. Most of the bridges printing on the bridges of the previous layer, and some on sparse infills. And we can have different percentages of sparse infill in different parts of model. But now we have to keep the maximum fan speed depending on the longest bridges in the models.

Which printers will be beneficial to this feature?

All

Describe the solution you'd like

A good option to keep the best quality of long bridges and the best overall model is to choose different fan speeds depending on the length of the bridge.

This can be implemented through a key-value table, following the example of "small area flow compensation". This will make it possible to change the settings of the filament profile less frequently for different models with different bridge lengths.

This will reduce the total time and power of the model's fan, sometimes quite significantly.
