Is there an existing issue for this feature request?

  • I have searched the existing issues

There's a required field here: "Is your feature request related to a problem?
*" I don't know what to write in it. I just have an idea, and it's not related to the problem.

Which printers will be beneficial to this feature?

All

Describe the solution you'd like

Hello! I've come up with a new "hot walls" feature and would like to consider adding it to Orca Slicer.

The "hot walls" feature changes the "wall order" and "wall loop direction" parameters on each layer. This creates the effect that new wall lines are laid on top of the hottest previous layers. (It's hard to explain, but you can see it clearly in the video: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1m-aU9ErV2a5kI-0pNR7IsYYQbmdBDvgW/view?usp=drive_link)

This will likely improve layer adhesion, which could be useful for printing parts for homemade 3D printers, which are often printed entirely from the perimeter without infill. However, it can increase shrinkage.

And most importantly, this isn't a script or a custom version of Orca Slicer, but simply a bunch of modifiers applied every other layer! As shown in the picture.

Here's the .3mf project file: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1ztZeKEB4ExICzg3plzzTmNxhhxwKveh6/view?usp=drive_link

Sorry if this idea is already someone else's or even a patent.
