Is there an existing issue for this feature request?

  • I have searched the existing issues

I often have to import .3mf files with 10-20 identical objects so that I can print them in sequential part order and change the print settings for each object.

When I import a 3mf, parts are loaded into the object list (and therefore printed) in a repeatable way, I don't understand the logic.

Rearranging the list when you have 20 objects is a pretty painful experience as the click and drag mechanism mostly works, but

But if you accidentally drag to the wrong spot on the list, the reordering will be cancelled

Which printers will be beneficial to this feature?

All

Describe the solution you'd like

I would love to see parts added to the list in a human-readable order, or order them based on xyz coordinates.

Alternatively, the ability to quickly sort the parts list alphabetically would do the same job.

I would also like to see the "dead" pixels between menu items removed when click/drag reordering, but I wouldn't care about that if I could quick-sort them.

Describe alternatives you've considered

  1. I have tried adjusting the xyz coordinates in the original model file but it never helps.
  2. Is there any way I can export non-connected objects in onshape so that they show as a single "part"
