Is there an existing issue for this feature request?

  • I have searched the existing issues

In times where everyone tries to save poop and waste it is not the best that for example you have a very high part and just on the top is a color change the prime tower is just relevant for the last few layers. Everything below the color change was just printed to support the few layers above.

Which printers will be beneficial to this feature?

All

Describe the solution you'd like

Therefore i would suggest (without having the technical knowledge to rate if this is possible) that the prime tower height is independent from the height of the printed part (at least a toggle to activate).
So if you just have a color change or two in top like there is a text on top the printer prints without a prime tower till the color change, then the bed moves up again, the change happens and it print a prime tower on the bed.

Considerations:

This might not be the best solution when you have many color changes higher above because of time of the z axis movement (but thatswhy is should just be an option).

  1. for large prints it might be a problem to because of toolhead running into the print when moving down, but there is already a system to detect that in "Print by Object"
