Is there an existing issue for this problem?

Printer

Bambu Lab P1S

How to reproduce

When I load filaments into the AMS, I can define the filament type ("Generic PLA") and color using the Bambu Handy phone app.

In OrcaSlicer I created several custom user filament profiles based off of the generic AMS profiles, e.g. "PrimaSELECT PLA". I have calibrated and dialed these profiles in, so at no point do I want to use the generic profiles.

The printer has two users over multiple laptops.

I click "Synchronize filament list from AMS", but it is a mystery what that dialog does exactly.

  1. In which direction is the synchronization happening? Is Orca only downloading settings from the AMS, not the other way around?
  2. How do I push settings from this instance of Orca on this laptop into the AMS/cloud instead? Note that the filament I set in the Bambu app is generic and vague ("Generic PLA"). I want to push the detailed ("PrimaSELECT PLA") settings so that any other user on any other device can use them. How do I do that?
  3. What does "mapping" do, what is being mapped - from what to what?

Actual results

Expected results

I would expect:

  1. Documentation that clearly explains what that panel does, how it works, and in which direction it can push.
  2. A user interface and labels which are unambiguous.
