Is there an existing issue for this feature request?

  • I have searched the existing issues

no problem, just inconvenience when printing with different kinds of materials on an industial print farm

Which printers will be beneficial to this feature?

All

Describe the solution you'd like

The proposal is to define all print speeds as a function of the filament’s maximum volumetric flow. Currently, selected print speeds may be lower than the filament’s actual capability, preventing full performance, or higher than what the filament can sustain, causing speed capping.
A system where the user performs a single flow-rate test and the slicer automatically derives all print speeds from that value would greatly streamline workflow and improve consistency.
Additionally, these speeds could be defined as percentages of the calculated baseline, ensuring uniform and predictable control across all extrusion types (outer wall, inner wall, infill, etc.).
