Is there an existing issue for this feature request?

  • I have searched the existing issues

It is related to certain materials that creates a problem with adhesion between outer and first inner wall when using Precise walls setting.

Which printers will be beneficial to this feature?

All

Describe the solution you'd like

I am using Bambu PETG HF filament and have discovered an issue when using the precise wall setting and smaller layer heights (0.12mm height in my case). Basically with this setting on, your outer wall adhesion to the inner walls is fairly poor. To the point you can just peel the outer wall off a part. If you stop the print before it does the top surface, often times you can actually see the gap between the outer and inner walls.

With Precise walls off, the issue is gone, however surface quality declines. The parts I make get sanded and painted. The sanding makes the outer wall peel off a lot easier, however, turning precise wall off increases post-processing times.

With precise walls on, basically the outer wall and first inner wall have no overlap to give good surface quality. However it reduces the adhesion between these two wall creating a very weak, 1 wall shell on the part regardless of the amount of wall loops. I am suggesting the addition of fine tuning precise walls to allow users to adjust the outer/inner wall overlap to their desire to achieve both good surface finish and strength.

Describe alternatives you've considered

I tried increasing flow ratio to try to fill this gap, but it declines quality in other parts of the print from over extrusion, and the adhesion between walls did not increase much.

Any type of wall overlap function would be good. The infill/wall overlap function is already there and has been helpful. But being able to fine tune the wall to wall overlap especially outer wall to first inner wall would be amazing.

Additional context

I did the search function and did find one user mention this before. But could not find anything further.
