I have seen similar requests for this, but they were rejected, and I understand why.... But I think if it was implemented as a modifier parameter, it would address those reasons that it was rejected.
In my specific case, I've got a model that has a 45 degree 5mm high champfer at the bottom of the print... but I want to print with outer/inner wall order for optimum surface quality. Obviously the champfer has overhanging outer walls, so the outer/inner leaves the outer walls being printed with nothing to attach too, so I have to choose, sacrifice surface quality on the champfer section (outer/inner), or sacrifice surface quality on the entire rest of the print (inner/outer).

Which printers will be beneficial to this feature?

Describe the solution you'd like

If I could apply a height range modifier for 0 - 5mm, setting the wall order as inner/outer for just that first 5mm of height, and then the rest of the model as outer/inner for the remainder of the print, it would address this issue, and since the transition from inner/outer to outer/inner is at the hard edge where the champfer ends, the transition should be virtually imperceptible. Being applied as a modifier, it leaves it completely up to the end user if any visible transition artifact is acceptable for their specific use case.
