I am printing PETG with a fixed order of filament selection, in order that the smaller areas of colour on the surface are not shrunk by the background being laid down first, so "foreground" colour followed by "background". I am using the plate options to tell it to print the first layer in the order "foreground" -> "background". When I select a brim, the brim is printed in "foreground" colour because it is printed first. This leaves a rim of foreground material around the outer background of print object when the print is removed from the plate.

Describe the solution you'd like

This would benefit any printer with multi-filament / multi-material support, although the use case may be somewhat niche.

Suggested behaviour - allow me to force the brim to be printed in a particular filament, so that I can select the foreground colour. So for a four colour print with a filament order of 1->2->3->4 where 4 is the background filament, I would set the brim filament to "4" and the print sequence would be.

Print brim (4) -> 1 -> 2 ->3 -> 4

Although it may work better to leave less time between printing the brim and the material which adjoins it and do

1 -> 2 -> 3 -> Print brim (4) -> 4

Describe alternatives you've considered

  1. Print background filament first - has a negative effect on the quality of the foreground details
  2. Don't use brims - brims are required for PETG witth this design because otherwise the edges lift and the print fails
  3. Mouse ear brims - Would still leave some residue, not suitable for a circular design
